New King James Version | English Standard Version |
A Contemplation of David. A Prayer when he was in the cave. I cry out to the LORD with my voice; With my voice to the LORD I make my supplication. | 1With my voice I cry out to the LORD; with my voice I plead for mercy to the LORD. |
I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble. | 2I pour out my complaint before him; I tell my trouble before him. |
When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Then You knew my path. In the way in which I walk They have secretly set a snare for me. | 3When my spirit faints within me, you know my way! In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me. |
Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul. | 4Look to the right and see: there is none who takes notice of me; no refuge remains to me; no one cares for my soul. |
I cried out to You, O LORD: I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. | 5I cry to you, O LORD; I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” |
Attend to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I. | 6Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low! Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me! |
Bring my soul out of prison, That I may praise Your name; The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal bountifully with me.” | 7Bring me out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name! The righteous will surround me, for you will deal bountifully with me. |
