A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle— | 1Of David. Blessed be the LORD, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. |
My lovingkindness and my fortress, My high tower and my deliverer, My shield and the One in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me. | 2He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. |
LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him? | 3O LORD, what is man, that You regard him, the son of man that You think of him? |
Man is like a breath; His days are like a passing shadow. | 4Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. |
Bow down Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; Touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. | 5Part Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke. |
Flash forth lightning and scatter them; Shoot out Your arrows and destroy them. | 6Flash forth Your lightning and scatter them; shoot Your arrows and rout them. |
Stretch out Your hand from above; Rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, From the hand of foreigners, | 7Reach down from on high; set me free and rescue me from the deep waters, from the grasp of foreigners, |
Whose mouth speaks lying words, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. | 8whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful. |
I will sing a new song to You, O God; On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You, | 9I will sing to You a new song, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will make music to You— |
The One who gives salvation to kings, Who delivers David His servant From the deadly sword. | 10to Him who gives victory to kings, who frees His servant David from the deadly sword. |
Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, Whose mouth speaks lying words, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood— | 11Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners, whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful. |
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That our daughters may be as pillars, Sculptured in palace style; | 12Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to adorn a palace. |
That our barns may be full, Supplying all kinds of produce; That our sheep may bring forth thousands And ten thousands in our fields; | 13Our storehouses will be full, supplying all manner of produce; our flocks will bring forth thousands, tens of thousands in our fields. |
That our oxen may be well laden; That there be no breaking in or going out; That there be no outcry in our streets. | 14Our oxen will bear great loads. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our streets. |
Happy are the people who are in such a state; Happy are the people whose God is the LORD! | 15Blessed are the people of whom this is so; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD. |
