To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.1For the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; their acts are vile. There is no one who does good.
The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.2The LORD looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God.
They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.3All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call on the LORD?4Will the workers of iniquity never learn? They devour my people like bread; they refuse to call upon the LORD.
There they are in great fear, For God is with the generation of the righteous.5There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is in the company of the righteous.
You shame the counsel of the poor, But the LORD is his refuge.6You sinners frustrate the plans of the oppressed, yet the LORD is their shelter.
Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD brings back the captivity of His people, Let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.7Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion! When the LORD restores His captive people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad!
