For the director of music. Of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. | 1For the choir director. A Psalm of David. The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. |
The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. | 2The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. |
All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. | 3They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one. |
Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the LORD. | 4Do all the workers of wickedness not know, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon the Lord? |
But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. | 5There they are in great dread, For God is with the righteous generation. |
You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge. | 6You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted, But the LORD is his refuge. |
Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad! | 7Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores His captive people, Jacob will rejoice, Israel will be glad. |
