For the director of music. Of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.2The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.3They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the LORD.4Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.5There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.
You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.6Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.
Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!7Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
