Corinthians 3
NIV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New International VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly--mere infants in Christ.1And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ.
I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.2I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able,
You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?3for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?
For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere human beings?4For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not mere men?
What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe--as the Lord has assigned to each his task.5What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one.
I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.6I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.
So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.7So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.
The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.8Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
For we are co-workers in God's service; you are God's field, God's building.9For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care.10According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.11For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw,12Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work.13each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.
If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.14If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.
If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved--even though only as one escaping through the flames.15If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in your midst?16Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy that person; for God's temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.17If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.
Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become "fools" so that you may become wise.18Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness";19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, "He is THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS";
and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."20and again, "THE LORD KNOWS THE REASONINGS of the wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS."
So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours,21So then let no one boast in men. For all things belong to you,
whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future--all are yours,22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you,
and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.23and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God.
