New International Version | King James Bible |
Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, "Go, pour out the seven bowls of God's wrath on the earth." | 1And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. |
The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly, festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. | 2And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image. |
The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died. | 3And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea. |
The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. | 4And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood. |
Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: "You are just in these judgments, O Holy One, you who are and who were; | 5And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus. |
for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve." | 6For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. |
And I heard the altar respond: "Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments." | 7And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments. |
The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. | 8And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. |
They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. | 9And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory. |
The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony | 10And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, |
and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done. | 11And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds. |
The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East. | 12And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. |
Then I saw three impure spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. | 13And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. |
They are demonic spirits that perform signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty. | 14For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. |
"Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed." | 15Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. |
Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. | 16And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. |

Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. | 18And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. |
The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. | 19And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. |

From the sky huge hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds, fell on people.
