NET Bible | International Standard Version |
A psalm of David. The LORD owns the earth and all it contains, the world and all who live in it. | 1The earth and everything in it exists for the LORD— the world and those who live in it. |
For he set its foundation upon the seas, and established it upon the ocean currents. | 2Indeed, he founded it upon the seas, he established it upon deep waters. |
Who is allowed to ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may go up to his holy dwelling place? | 3Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his Holy Place? |
The one whose deeds are blameless and whose motives are pure, who does not lie, or make promises with no intention of keeping them. | 4The one who has innocent hands and a pure heart; the person who does not delight in what is false and does not swear an oath deceitfully. |
Such godly people are rewarded by the LORD, and vindicated by the God who delivers them. | 5This person will receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation. |
Such purity characterizes the people who seek his favor, Jacob's descendants, who pray to him. (Selah) | 6This is the generation that seeks him. Those who seek your face are the true seed of Jacob. Interlude |
Look up, you gates! Rise up, you eternal doors! Then the majestic king will enter! | 7Lift up your heads, gates! Be lifted up, ancient doors, so the King of Glory may come in. |
Who is this majestic king? The LORD who is strong and mighty! The LORD who is mighty in battle! | 8Who is the King of Glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle. |
Look up, you gates! Rise up, you eternal doors! Then the majestic king will enter! | 9Lift up your heads, gates! Be lifted up, ancient doors, so the King of Glory may come in. |
Who is this majestic king? The LORD who commands armies! He is the majestic king! (Selah) | 10Who is he, this King of Glory? The LORD of the heavenly armies— He is the King of Glory. Interlude |
