NET Bible | English Standard Version |
A psalm of David. The LORD owns the earth and all it contains, the world and all who live in it. | 1The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, |
For he set its foundation upon the seas, and established it upon the ocean currents. | 2for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers. |
Who is allowed to ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may go up to his holy dwelling place? | 3Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place? |
The one whose deeds are blameless and whose motives are pure, who does not lie, or make promises with no intention of keeping them. | 4He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. |
Such godly people are rewarded by the LORD, and vindicated by the God who delivers them. | 5He will receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation. |
Such purity characterizes the people who seek his favor, Jacob's descendants, who pray to him. (Selah) | 6Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah |
Look up, you gates! Rise up, you eternal doors! Then the majestic king will enter! | 7Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. |
Who is this majestic king? The LORD who is strong and mighty! The LORD who is mighty in battle! | 8Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle! |
Look up, you gates! Rise up, you eternal doors! Then the majestic king will enter! | 9Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. |
Who is this majestic king? The LORD who commands armies! He is the majestic king! (Selah) | 10Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah |
