By David. The LORD, my protector, deserves praise--the one who trains my hands for battle, and my fingers for war, 1Davidic. May the LORD, my rock, be praised, who trains my hands for battle and my fingers for warfare.
who loves me and is my stronghold, my refuge and my deliverer, my shield and the one in whom I take shelter, who makes nations submit to me. 2He is my faithful love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in Him; He subdues my people under me.
O LORD, of what importance is the human race, that you should notice them? Of what importance is mankind, that you should be concerned about them? 3 LORD, what is man, that You care for him, the son of man, that You think of him?
People are like a vapor, their days like a shadow that disappears. 4Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
O LORD, make the sky sink and come down! Touch the mountains and make them smolder! 5 LORD, part Your heavens and come down. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.
Hurl lightning bolts and scatter them! Shoot your arrows and rout them! 6Flash Your lightning and scatter the foe; shoot Your arrows and rout them.
Reach down from above! Grab me and rescue me from the surging water, from the power of foreigners, 7Reach down from heaven; rescue me from deep water, and set me free from the grasp of foreigners
who speak lies, and make false promises. 8whose mouths speak lies, whose right hands are deceptive.
O God, I will sing a new song to you! Accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, I will sing praises to you, 9God, I will sing a new song to You; I will play on a ten-stringed harp for You--
the one who delivers kings, and rescued David his servant from a deadly sword. 10the One who gives victory to kings, who frees His servant David from the deadly sword.
Grab me and rescue me from the power of foreigners, who speak lies, and make false promises. 11Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners whose mouths speak lies, whose right hands are deceptive.
Then our sons will be like plants, that quickly grow to full size. Our daughters will be like corner pillars, carved like those in a palace. 12Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters, like corner pillars that are carved in the palace style.
Our storehouses will be full, providing all kinds of food. Our sheep will multiply by the thousands and fill our pastures. 13Our storehouses will be full, supplying all kinds of produce; our flocks will increase by thousands and tens of thousands in our open fields.
Our cattle will be weighted down with produce. No one will break through our walls, no one will be taken captive, and there will be no terrified cries in our city squares. 14Our cattle will be well fed. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our public squares.
How blessed are the people who experience these things! How blessed are the people whose God is the LORD! 15Happy are the people with such blessings. Happy are the people whose God is Yahweh.
