NET Bible | English Standard Version |
A psalm of David, written when he fled from his son Absalom. LORD, how numerous are my enemies! Many attack me. | 1O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; |
Many say about me, "God will not deliver him." (Selah) | 2many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah |
But you, LORD, are a shield that protects me; you are my glory and the one who restores me. | 3But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. |
To the LORD I cried out, and he answered me from his holy hill. (Selah) | 4I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah |
I rested and slept; I awoke, for the LORD protects me. | 5I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the LORD sustained me. |
I am not afraid of the multitude of people who attack me from all directions. | 6I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. |
Rise up, LORD! Deliver me, my God! Yes, you will strike all my enemies on the jaw; you will break the teeth of the wicked. | 7Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. |
The LORD delivers; you show favor to your people. (Selah) | 8Salvation belongs to the LORD; your blessing be on your people! Selah |
