| 2Let Israel rejoice in their Creator! Let the people of Zion delight in their king! | 2Let Israel celebrate its Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King. |
| 3Let them praise his name with dancing! Let them sing praises to him to the accompaniment of the tambourine and harp! | 3Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and lyre. |
| 4For the LORD takes delight in his people; he exalts the oppressed by delivering them. | 4For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation. |
| 5Let the godly rejoice because of their vindication! Let them shout for joy upon their beds! | 5Let the faithful celebrate in triumphal glory; let them shout for joy on their beds. |
| 6May they praise God while they hold a two-edged sword in their hand, | 6Let the exaltation of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, |
| 7in order to take revenge on the nations, and punish foreigners. | 7inflicting vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, |
| 8They bind their kings in chains, and their nobles in iron shackles, | 8binding their kings with chains and their dignitaries with iron shackles, |
| 9and execute the judgment to which their enemies have been sentenced. All his loyal followers will be vindicated. Praise the LORD! | 9carrying out the judgment decreed against them. This honor is for all his faithful people. Hallelujah! |
