New American Standard Bible 1995 | New Living Translation |
A Psalm of Asaph. God takes His stand in His own congregation; He judges in the midst of the rulers. | 1God presides over heaven’s court; he pronounces judgment on the heavenly beings: |
How long will you judge unjustly And show partiality to the wicked? Selah. | 2“How long will you hand down unjust decisions by favoring the wicked? Interlude |
Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. | 3“Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. |
Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. | 4Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people. |
They do not know nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are shaken. | 5But these oppressors know nothing; they are so ignorant! They wander about in darkness, while the whole world is shaken to the core. |
I said, "You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High. | 6I say, ‘You are gods; you are all children of the Most High. |
"Nevertheless you will die like men And fall like any one of the princes." | 7But you will die like mere mortals and fall like every other ruler.’” |
Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who possesses all the nations. | 8Rise up, O God, and judge the earth, for all the nations belong to you. |
