New American Standard Bible 1995 | International Standard Version |
A Psalm of Asaph. God takes His stand in His own congregation; He judges in the midst of the rulers. | 1 God takes his stand in the divine assembly; among the divine beings he renders judgment: |
How long will you judge unjustly And show partiality to the wicked? Selah. | 2"How long will you judge partially by showing favor on the wicked? Interlude |
Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. | 3"Defend the poor and the fatherless. Vindicate the afflicted and the poor. |
Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. | 4Rescue the poor and the needy, delivering them from the power of the wicked. |
They do not know nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are shaken. | 5They neither know nor understand; they walk about in the dark while all the foundations of the earth are shaken. |
I said, "You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High. | 6"Indeed I said, 'You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High. |
"Nevertheless you will die like men And fall like any one of the princes." | 7However, as all human beings do, you will die, and like other rulers, you will fall.' |
Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who possesses all the nations. | 8Arise, God, to judge the earth, for all nations belong to you. |
