New American Standard Bible 1995 | King James Bible |
"How beautiful are your feet in sandals, O prince's daughter! The curves of your hips are like jewels, The work of the hands of an artist. | 1How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! the joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman. |
"Your navel is like a round goblet Which never lacks mixed wine; Your belly is like a heap of wheat Fenced about with lilies. | 2Thy navel is like a round goblet, which wanteth not liquor: thy belly is like an heap of wheat set about with lilies. |
"Your two breasts are like two fawns, Twins of a gazelle. | 3Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins. |
"Your neck is like a tower of ivory, Your eyes like the pools in Heshbon By the gate of Bath-rabbim; Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon, Which faces toward Damascus. | 4Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bathrabbim: thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus. |
"Your head crowns you like Carmel, And the flowing locks of your head are like purple threads; The king is captivated by your tresses. | 5Thine head upon thee is like Carmel, and the hair of thine head like purple; the king is held in the galleries. |
"How beautiful and how delightful you are, My love, with all your charms! | 6How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights! |
"Your stature is like a palm tree, And your breasts are like its clusters. | 7This thy stature is like to a palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of grapes. |
"I said, 'I will climb the palm tree, I will take hold of its fruit stalks.' Oh, may your breasts be like clusters of the vine, And the fragrance of your breath like apples, | 8I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples; |
And your mouth like the best wine!" "It goes down smoothly for my beloved, Flowing gently through the lips of those who fall asleep. | 9And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak. |
"I am my beloved's, And his desire is for me. | 10I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me. |
"Come, my beloved, let us go out into the country, Let us spend the night in the villages. | 11Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages. |
"Let us rise early and go to the vineyards; Let us see whether the vine has budded And its blossoms have opened, And whether the pomegranates have bloomed. There I will give you my love. | 12Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves. |
"The mandrakes have given forth fragrance; And over our doors are all choice fruits, Both new and old, Which I have saved up for you, my beloved. | 13The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved. |
