For the choir director. A Psalm of David. The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. | 1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. |
The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. | 2The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. |
They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one. | 3They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. |
Do all the workers of wickedness not know, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon the Lord? | 4Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. |
There they are in great dread, For God is with the righteous generation. | 5There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. |
You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted, But the LORD is his refuge. | 6Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge. |
Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores His captive people, Jacob will rejoice, Israel will be glad. | 7Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. |
