NASB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995International Standard Version
"On my bed night after night I sought him Whom my soul loves; I sought him but did not find him.1Night after night on my bed, I sought the one I love; I sought him, but didn't find him.
'I must arise now and go about the city; In the streets and in the squares I must seek him whom my soul loves.' I sought him but did not find him.2I'll get up and go all around the city, throughout the streets, and in the squares. I'll seek the one I love. I sought him, but didn't find him.
"The watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me, And I said, 'Have you seen him whom my soul loves?'3The watchmen who go all around the city found me. I asked, "Have you seen the one I love?"
"Scarcely had I left them When I found him whom my soul loves; I held on to him and would not let him go Until I had brought him to my mother's house, And into the room of her who conceived me."4I had just passed them when I found the one I love. I held him and wouldn't let him go until I brought him to my mother's house, to the room of the one who conceived me.
"I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, By the gazelles or by the hinds of the field, That you will not arouse or awaken my love Until she pleases."5Swear to me, young women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or by the does of the field, that you won't awaken or arouse love before its proper time!
"What is this coming up from the wilderness Like columns of smoke, Perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, With all scented powders of the merchant?6What is this coming up from the desert like columns of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and incense from all the fragrant powders of the merchant?
"Behold, it is the traveling couch of Solomon; Sixty mighty men around it, Of the mighty men of Israel.7Look! It's Solomon's sedan chair, with 60 of the best soldiers in Israel surrounding it.
"All of them are wielders of the sword, Expert in war; Each man has his sword at his side, Guarding against the terrors of the night.8All of them are wearing swords and are experienced in battle. Each has his sword on his thigh, ready for the terror of the night.
"King Solomon has made for himself a sedan chair From the timber of Lebanon.9King Solomon made the sedan chair for himself from the trees of Lebanon.
"He made its posts of silver, Its back of gold And its seat of purple fabric, With its interior lovingly fitted out By the daughters of Jerusalem.10He made its posts of silver, its back of gold. Its seat was purple, and its interior was lovingly inlaid by the young women of Jerusalem.
"Go forth, O daughters of Zion, And gaze on King Solomon with the crown With which his mother has crowned him On the day of his wedding, And on the day of his gladness of heart."11Come out, young women of Zion, and see King Solomon with the crown with which his mother crowned him on his wedding day— his day of great delight.
