King James Bible | New Living Translation |
To the chief Musician upon Neginah, A Psalm of David. Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. | 1O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! |
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. | 2From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, |
For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. | 3for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. |
I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. | 4Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings! Interlude |
For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name. | 5For you have heard my vows, O God. You have given me an inheritance reserved for those who fear your name. |
Thou wilt prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations. | 6Add many years to the life of the king! May his years span the generations! |
He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him. | 7May he reign under God’s protection forever. May your unfailing love and faithfulness watch over him. |
So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows. | 8Then I will sing praises to your name forever as I fulfill my vows each day. |
