King James Bible | New Living Translation |
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? | 1O LORD, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? |
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? | 2How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? |
Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; | 3Turn and answer me, O LORD my God! Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die. |
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. | 4Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!” Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall. |
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. | 5But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. |
I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me. | 6I will sing to the LORD because he is good to me. |
