| 1And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged; | 1But God remembered Noah and all the animals and livestock that were with him in the ark. And God sent a wind over the earth, and the waters began to subside. |
| 2The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; | 2The springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens were closed, and the rain from the sky was restrained. |
| 3And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. | 3The waters receded steadily from the earth, and after 150 days the waters had gone down. |
| 4And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. | 4On the seventeenth day of the seventh month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. |
| 5And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen. | 5And the waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible. |
| 6And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made: | 6After forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark |
| 7And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth. | 7and sent out a raven. It kept flying back and forth until the waters had dried up from the earth. |
| 8Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; | 8Then Noah sent out a dove to see if the waters had receded from the surface of the ground. |
| 9But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark. | 9But the dove found no place to rest her foot, and she returned to him in the ark, because the waters were still covering the surface of all the earth. So he reached out his hand and brought her back inside the ark. |
| 10And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; | 10Noah waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. |
| 11And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. | 11And behold, the dove returned to him in the evening with a freshly plucked olive leaf in her beak. So Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth. |
| 12And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more. | 12And Noah waited seven more days and sent out the dove again, but this time she did not return to him. |
| 13And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry. | 13In Noah’s six hundred and first year, on the first day of the first month, the waters had dried up from the earth. So Noah removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. |
| 14And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried. | 14By the twenty-seventh day of the second month, the earth was fully dry. |
| 15And God spake unto Noah, saying, | 15Then God said to Noah, |
| 16Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee. | 16“Come out of the ark, you and your wife, along with your sons and their wives. |
| 17Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth. | 17Bring out all the living creatures that are with you—birds, livestock, and everything that crawls upon the ground—so that they can spread out over the earth and be fruitful and multiply upon it.” |
| 18And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him: | 18So Noah came out, along with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives. |
| 19Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark. | 19Every living creature, every creeping thing, and every bird—everything that moves upon the earth—came out of the ark, kind by kind. |
| 20And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. | 20Then Noah built an altar to the LORD. And taking from every kind of clean animal and clean bird, he offered burnt offerings on the altar. |
| 21And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. | 21When the LORD smelled the pleasing aroma, He said in His heart, “Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from his youth. And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have done. |
| 22While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. | 22As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall never cease.” |
