| 2You people, how long will you malign my reputation? How long will you love what is vain and what is false? Interlude | 2O sons of men, how long will my honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception? Selah. |
| 3But understand this: the LORD has set apart the godly for himself! The LORD will hear me when I cry out to him! | 3But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man for Himself; The LORD hears when I call to Him. |
| 4Be angry, yet do not sin. Think about this when upon your beds, and be silent. Interlude | 4Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. |
| 5Offer sacrifices that are righteous, and put your confidence in the LORD. | 5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And trust in the LORD. |
