International Standard Version | Berean Study Bible |
I take refuge in the LORD. So how can you say to me, "Flee like a bird to the mountains."? | 1For the choirmaster. Of David. In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “Flee like a bird to your mountain! |
Look, the wicked have bent their bow and placed their arrow on the string, to shoot from the darkness at the upright in heart. | 2For behold, the wicked bend their bows. They set their arrow on the string to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. |
When the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? | 3If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” |
The LORD is in his holy Temple; the LORD's throne is in the heavens. His eyes see, his glance examines humanity. | 4The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD is on His heavenly throne. His eyes are watching closely; they examine the sons of men. |
The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence, he hates. | 5The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked; His soul hates the lover of violence. |
He rains on the wicked burning coals and sulfur; a scorching wind is their destiny. | 6On the wicked He will rain down fiery coals and sulfur; a scorching wind will be their portion. |
Indeed, the LORD is righteous; he loves righteousness; the upright will see him face-to-face. | 7For the LORD is righteous; He loves justice. The upright will see His face. |
