For the choir director: on the Gittith. A psalm of the sons of Korah. How lovely is Your dwelling place, LORD of Hosts. | 1For the director of music. According to gittith. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty! |
I long and yearn for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God. | 2My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. |
Even a sparrow finds a home, and a swallow, a nest for herself where she places her young-- near Your altars, LORD of Hosts, my King and my God. | 3Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young-- a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God. |
How happy are those who reside in Your house, who praise You continually. Selah | 4Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. |
Happy are the people whose strength is in You, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. | 5Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. |
As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a source of springwater; even the autumn rain will cover it with blessings. | 6As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. |
They go from strength to strength; each appears before God in Zion. | 7They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. |
LORD God of Hosts, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. Selah | 8Hear my prayer, LORD God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob. |
Consider our shield, God; look on the face of Your anointed one. | 9Look on our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one. |
Better a day in Your courts than a thousand anywhere else. I would rather be at the door of the house of my God than to live in the tents of wicked people. | 10Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. |
For the LORD God is a sun and shield. The LORD gives grace and glory; He does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity. | 11For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. |
Happy is the person who trusts in You, LORD of Hosts! | 12LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you. |
