A psalm of Asaph. God has taken His place in the divine assembly; He judges among the gods:" | 1A psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of El; in the midst of the gods he renders judgment. |
How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah | 2He says, "How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked? (Selah) |
Provide justice for the needy and the fatherless; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. | 3Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! Vindicate the oppressed and suffering! |
Rescue the poor and needy; save them from the power of the wicked." | 4Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power of the wicked! |
They do not know or understand; they wander in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken. | 5They neither know nor understand. They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble. |
I said, "You are gods; you are all sons of the Most High. | 6I thought, 'You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.' |
However, you will die like men and fall like any other ruler." | 7Yet you will die like mortals; you will fall like all the other rulers." |
Rise up, God, judge the earth, for all the nations belong to You. | 8Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own all the nations. |
