Solomonic. God, give Your justice to the king and Your righteousness to the king's son. | 1A Psalm for Solomon. Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son. |
He will judge Your people with righteousness and Your afflicted ones with justice. | 2He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment. |
May the mountains bring prosperity to the people and the hills, righteousness. | 3The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. |
May he vindicate the afflicted among the people, help the poor, and crush the oppressor. | 4He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. |
May he continue while the sun endures and as long as the moon, throughout all generations. | 5They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations. |
May he be like rain that falls on the cut grass, like spring showers that water the earth. | 6He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth. |
May the righteous flourish in his days and prosperity abound until the moon is no more. | 7In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth. |
May he rule from sea to sea and from the Euphrates to the ends of the earth. | 8He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth. |
May desert tribes kneel before him and his enemies lick the dust. | 9They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust. |
May the kings of Tarshish and the coasts and islands bring tribute, the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts. | 10The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. |
Let all kings bow down to him, all nations serve him. | 11Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him. |
For he will rescue the poor who cry out and the afflicted who have no helper. | 12For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper. |
He will have pity on the poor and helpless and save the lives of the poor. | 13He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy. |
He will redeem them from oppression and violence, for their lives are precious in his sight. | 14He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight. |
May he live long! May gold from Sheba be given to him. May prayer be offered for him continually, and may he be blessed all day long. | 15And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised. |
May there be plenty of grain in the land; may it wave on the tops of the mountains. May its crops be like Lebanon. May people flourish in the cities like the grass of the field. | 16There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth. |
May his name endure forever; as long as the sun shines, may his fame increase. May all nations be blessed by him and call him blessed. | 17His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. |
May the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does wonders, be praised. | 18Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. |
May His glorious name be praised forever; the whole earth is filled with His glory. Amen and amen. | 19And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen. |
The prayers of David son of Jesse are concluded. | 20The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended. |
