| 2Raise a song; sound the tambourine, the sweet lyre with the harp. | 2Begin the music, strike the timbrel, play the melodious harp and lyre. |
| 3Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day. | 3Sound the ram's horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival; |
| 4For it is a statute for Israel, a rule of the God of Jacob. | 4this is a decree for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob. |
| 5He made it a decree in Joseph when he went out over the land of Egypt. I hear a language I had not known: | 5When God went out against Egypt, he established it as a statute for Joseph. I heard an unknown voice say: |
| 6“I relieved your shoulder of the burden; your hands were freed from the basket. | 6"I removed the burden from their shoulders; their hands were set free from the basket. |
