Then the LORD said to Moses, | 1The LORD spoke to Moses: |
“Make two trumpets of hammered silver to be used for calling the congregation and for having the camps set out. | 2"Make two trumpets of silver; you are to make them from a single hammered piece. You will use them for assembling the community and for directing the traveling of the camps. |
When both are sounded, the whole congregation is to assemble before you at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. | 3When they blow them both, all the community must come to you to the entrance of the tent of meeting. |
But if only one is sounded, then the leaders, the heads of the clans of Israel, are to gather before you. | 4"But if they blow with one trumpet, then the leaders, the heads of the thousands of Israel, must come to you. |
When you sound short blasts, the camps that lie on the east side are to set out. | 5When you blow an alarm, then the camps that are located on the east side must begin to travel. |
When you sound the short blasts a second time, the camps that lie on the south side are to set out. The blasts are to signal them to set out. | 6And when you blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that are located on the south side must begin to travel. An alarm must be sounded for their journeys. |
To convene the assembly, you are to sound long blasts, not short ones. | 7But when you assemble the community, you must blow, but you must not sound an alarm. |
The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to sound the trumpets. This shall be a permanent statute for you and the generations to come. | 8The sons of Aaron, the priests, must blow the trumpets; and they will be to you for an eternal ordinance throughout your generations. |
When you enter into battle in your land against an adversary who attacks you, sound short blasts on the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God and saved from your enemies. | 9If you go to war in your land against an adversary who opposes you, then you must sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God, and you will be saved from your enemies. |
And on your joyous occasions, your appointed feasts, and the beginning of each month, you are to blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings to serve as a reminder for you before your God. I am the LORD your God.” | 10"Also in the time when you rejoice, such as on your appointed festivals or at the beginnings of your months, you must blow with your trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings, so that they may become a memorial for you before your God: I am the LORD your God." |

Come with us and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things for Israel." |
“I will not go,” Hobab replied. “Instead, I am going back to my own land and my own people.” | 30But Hobab said to him, "I will not go, but I will go instead to my own land and to my kindred." |
“Please do not leave us,” Moses said, “since you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can serve as our eyes. | 31Moses said, "Do not leave us, because you know places for us to camp in the wilderness, and you could be our guide. |
