| 18When all the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sounding of the ram’s horn, and the mountain enveloped in smoke, they trembled and stood at a distance. | 18All the people were seeing the thundering and the lightning, and heard the sound of the horn, and saw the mountain smoking--and when the people saw it they trembled with fear and kept their distance. |

| 23You are not to make any gods alongside Me; you are not to make for yourselves gods of silver or gold. | 23You must not make gods of silver alongside me, nor make gods of gold for yourselves. |
| 24You are to make for Me an altar of earth, and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and peace offerings, your sheep and goats and cattle. In every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you. | 24You must make for me an altar made of earth, and you will sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your cattle. In every place where I cause my name to be honored I will come to you and I will bless you. |
| 25Now if you make an altar of stones for Me, you must not build it with stones shaped by tools; for if you use a chisel on it, you will defile it. | 25If you make me an altar of stone, you must not build it of stones shaped with tools, for if you use your tool on it you have defiled it. |
| 26And you must not go up to My altar on steps, lest your nakedness be exposed on it.’ | 26And you must not go up by steps to my altar, so that your nakedness is not exposed.' |
