Berean Study Bible | English Standard Version |
For the choirmaster. According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. In God alone my soul finds rest; my salvation comes from Him. | 1For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. |
He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress; I will never be shaken. | 2He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. |
How long will you threaten a man? Will all of you throw him down like a leaning wall or a tottering fence? | 3How long will all of you attack a man to batter him, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence? |
They fully intend to cast him down from his lofty perch; they delight in lies; with their mouths they bless, but inwardly they curse. Selah | 4They only plan to thrust him down from his high position. They take pleasure in falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah |
Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him. | 5For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. |
He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken. | 6He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. |
My salvation and my honor rest on God, my strong rock; my refuge is in God. | 7On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. |
Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge. Selah | 8Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah |
Lowborn men are but a vapor, the exalted but a lie. Weighed on the scale, they go up; together they are but a vapor. | 9Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. |
Place no trust in extortion, or false hope in stolen goods. If your riches increase, do not set your heart upon them. | 10Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them. |
God has spoken once; I have heard this twice: that power belongs to God, | 11Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, |
and loving devotion to You, O Lord. For You will repay each man according to his deeds. | 12and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work. |
