Jerusalem and Judah's downfall is attributed to their defiance against God. Their words and deeds incite the Lord's wrath, and they do not even try to hide their sins. As a result, they will fall and their oppression of the poor will lead to God standing up to plead the cause of His people.

God takes notice of the pride of Jerusalem's women and announces they will face calamity. Their beauty will be replaced with despair. The city, once filled with warriors and economic prosperity, will face devastation and abandonment.
