Wisdom

In the Bible, wisdom is highly esteemed as a divine attribute and a desirable quality for believers. It is often associated with the fear of the Lord, moral insight, and the ability to make sound decisions. The Book of Proverbs is a primary source of biblical wisdom literature, emphasizing the importance of wisdom in daily life. Proverbs 9:10 states, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

Wisdom is personified in Proverbs 8, where it is depicted as calling out to humanity, offering guidance and understanding. Proverbs 8:11 declares, "For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire compares with her." This highlights the incomparable value of wisdom in the life of a believer.

In the New Testament, wisdom is further developed as a gift of the Holy Spirit. James 1:5 encourages believers to seek wisdom from God: "Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." This underscores the belief that true wisdom comes from God and is accessible through prayer and faith.

The Apostle Paul also speaks of wisdom in relation to the mystery of Christ. In 1 Corinthians 1:24 , he writes, "But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God." Here, wisdom is intricately linked to the person and work of Jesus Christ, who embodies divine wisdom.

Preparation

Preparation is a recurring theme in the Bible, often linked to readiness for spiritual and practical endeavors. The concept of preparation is evident in the teachings of Jesus, particularly in the parables. In the Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), Jesus emphasizes the importance of being prepared for His return. The wise virgins, who brought extra oil for their lamps, are contrasted with the foolish ones who did not. Matthew 25:13 concludes, "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour."

Preparation is also seen in the life of John the Baptist, who was sent to prepare the way for the Lord. Luke 1:17 describes his mission: "And he will go on before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

In the Old Testament, preparation is evident in the meticulous instructions given for the construction of the Tabernacle and the Temple. These preparations were not only physical but also spiritual, as they were meant to create a space where God could dwell among His people.

The Apostle Paul, in his letters, often speaks of spiritual preparation. In Ephesians 6:13 , he writes, "Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand." This passage highlights the need for believers to be spiritually prepared to face challenges and adversities.
