The concept of being "tiresome" is not directly labeled in the Bible, but the Scriptures do address themes of weariness, fatigue, and the burdensome nature of certain tasks or behaviors. These themes are often explored in the context of spiritual, emotional, and physical exhaustion, as well as the divine provision of rest and renewal.

Weariness in Labor and Life

The Bible acknowledges the weariness that can accompany human labor and the struggles of life. In Ecclesiastes 1:8 , Solomon reflects on the repetitive and exhausting nature of human endeavors: "All things are wearisome, more than one can describe; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear content with hearing." This verse captures the endless cycle of human activity that can become tiresome and unfulfilling without a divine purpose.

Spiritual Weariness

Spiritual weariness is also addressed in Scripture. The prophet Isaiah speaks to the fatigue that can come from trying to live righteously in one's own strength. Isaiah 40:30-31 states, "Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint." This passage highlights the promise of divine strength and renewal for those who rely on God.

The Burden of Sin

Sin is depicted as a tiresome burden that weighs heavily on individuals. In Psalm 38:4 , David laments, "For my iniquities have overwhelmed me; they are a burden too heavy to bear." The weariness of sin is contrasted with the relief and rest found in repentance and forgiveness through God.

Jesus' Invitation to Rest

Jesus Christ offers a solution to the weariness of life and the burdens of sin. In Matthew 11:28-30 , He extends an invitation: "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." This passage emphasizes the rest and peace available through a relationship with Christ, contrasting the tiresome nature of life without Him.

Endurance and Perseverance

The New Testament encourages believers to endure and persevere through weariness. Galatians 6:9 exhorts, "Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." This call to perseverance is rooted in the hope of eternal reward and the sustaining power of God.

Conclusion

While the Bible does not use the term "tiresome" explicitly, it addresses the concept through discussions of weariness, burdens, and the promise of divine rest. Believers are encouraged to find strength and renewal in God, to cast off the burdens of sin, and to persevere in faith and good works.
