The term "explicitly" refers to something that is stated clearly and in detail, leaving no room for confusion or doubt. In the context of the Bible, explicit statements are those that are direct and unambiguous, providing clear guidance or information on a particular subject. The Bible, as the inspired Word of God, contains numerous passages where God’s commands, teachings, and truths are communicated explicitly to His people.

Explicit Commands and Laws

Throughout the Scriptures, God provides explicit commands to His people, particularly in the context of the Mosaic Law. For example, the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20:1-17 are a series of explicit directives given by God to the Israelites. These commandments cover fundamental aspects of moral and spiritual conduct, such as the prohibition against idolatry, murder, and theft.

In Deuteronomy 6:6-7 , God explicitly instructs the Israelites to internalize His commandments and teach them diligently to their children: "These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

Explicit Teachings of Jesus

The teachings of Jesus Christ are often explicit, providing clear guidance on how His followers should live. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus offers explicit instructions on various aspects of life and faith. For instance, in Matthew 5:44 , Jesus explicitly commands, "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

Jesus also provides explicit teaching on the greatest commandments in Matthew 22:37-39 : "Jesus declared, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"

Explicit Doctrinal Statements

The New Testament contains explicit doctrinal statements that are foundational to Christian belief. The Apostle Paul, in his epistles, often articulates key doctrines with clarity. For example, in Ephesians 2:8-9 , Paul explicitly states the doctrine of salvation by grace through faith: "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast."

Similarly, in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 , Paul provides an explicit summary of the Gospel message: "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."

Explicit Warnings and Promises

The Bible also contains explicit warnings and promises. In Galatians 6:7-8 , Paul warns explicitly about the consequences of one's actions: "Do not be deceived: God is not to be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return. The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."

Conversely, the Bible offers explicit promises of hope and assurance. In John 14:2-3 , Jesus promises His disciples: "In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am."

The explicit nature of these biblical statements serves to guide believers in their faith and conduct, providing a clear and authoritative foundation for understanding God's will and purpose.
