New Living Translation | NET Bible |
Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by. | 1For the music director; according to the al-tashcheth style; a prayer of David, written when he fled from Saul into the cave. Have mercy on me, O God! Have mercy on me! For in you I have taken shelter. In the shadow of your wings I take shelter until trouble passes. |
I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me. | 2I cry out for help to the sovereign God, to the God who vindicates me. |
He will send help from heaven to rescue me, disgracing those who hound me. Interlude My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness. | 3May he send help from heaven and deliver me from my enemies who hurl insults! (Selah) May God send his loyal love and faithfulness! |
I am surrounded by fierce lions who greedily devour human prey— whose teeth pierce like spears and arrows, and whose tongues cut like swords. | 4I am surrounded by lions; I lie down among those who want to devour me; men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are a sharp sword. |
Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens! May your glory shine over all the earth. | 5Rise up above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth! |
My enemies have set a trap for me. I am weary from distress. They have dug a deep pit in my path, but they themselves have fallen into it. Interlude | 6They have prepared a net to trap me; I am discouraged. They have dug a pit for me. They will fall into it! (Selah) |
My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises! | 7I am determined, O God! I am determined! I will sing and praise you! |
Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. | 8Awake, my soul! Awake, O stringed instrument and harp! I will wake up at dawn! |
I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. | 9I will give you thanks before the nations, O Master! I will sing praises to you before foreigners! |
For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. | 10For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, and your faithfulness reaches the clouds. |
Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth. | 11Rise up above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth! |
