New Living Translation | International Standard Version |
Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD! Praise him, you who serve the LORD, | 1Hallelujah! Praise the name of the LORD! Give praise, you servants of the LORD, |
you who serve in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God. | 2you who are standing in the LORD's Temple, in the courtyards of the house of our God. |
Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; celebrate his lovely name with music. | 3Praise the LORD, because the LORD is good; Sing to his name, for he is gracious. |
For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel for his own special treasure. | 4It is Jacob whom the LORD chose for himself— Israel as his personal possession. |
I know the greatness of the LORD— that our Lord is greater than any other god. | 5Indeed, I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord surpasses all gods. |
The LORD does whatever pleases him throughout all heaven and earth, and on the seas and in their depths. | 6The LORD does whatever pleases him in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all its deep regions. |
He causes the clouds to rise over the whole earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses. | 7He makes the clouds rise from the ends of the earth, fashioning lightning for the rain, bringing the wind from his storehouses. |
He destroyed the firstborn in each Egyptian home, both people and animals. | 8It was the LORD who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, including both men and animals. |
He performed miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt against Pharaoh and all his people. | 9He sent signs and wonders among you, Egypt, before Pharaoh and all his servants. |
He struck down great nations and slaughtered mighty kings— | 10He struck down many nations, killing many kings— |
Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kings of Canaan. | 11Sihon, king of the Amorites, Og, king of Bashan, and every kingdom of Canaan— |
He gave their land as an inheritance, a special possession to his people Israel. | 12and he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel. |
Your name, O LORD, endures forever; your fame, O LORD, is known to every generation. | 13Your name, LORD, exists forever, and your reputation, LORD, throughout the ages. |
For the LORD will give justice to his people and have compassion on his servants. | 14For the LORD will vindicate his people, and he will show compassion on his servants. |
The idols of the nations are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. | 15The idols of the nations are silver and gold, worked by the hands of human beings. |
They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. | 16Mouths are attributed to them, but they cannot speak; sight is attributed to them, but they cannot see; |
They have ears but cannot hear, and mouths but cannot breathe. | 17ears are attributed to them, but they do not hear, and there is no breath in their mouths. |
And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them. | 18Those who craft them— and all who trust in them— will become like them. |
O Israel, praise the LORD! O priests—descendants of Aaron—praise the LORD! | 19House of Israel, bless the LORD! House of Aaron, bless the LORD! |
O Levites, praise the LORD! All you who fear the LORD, praise the LORD! | 20House of Levi, bless the LORD! You who fear the LORD, bless the LORD! |
The LORD be praised from Zion, for he lives here in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! | 21Blessed be the LORD from Zion, he who lives in Jerusalem. Hallelujah! |
