New Living Translation | Berean Study Bible |
Praise the LORD! How joyful are those who fear the LORD and delight in obeying his commands. | 1Hallelujah! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in His commandments. |
Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed. | 2His descendants will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. |
They themselves will be wealthy, and their good deeds will last forever. | 3Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. |
Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. | 4Light dawns in the darkness for the upright—for the gracious, compassionate, and righteous. |
Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly. | 5It is well with the man who is generous and lends freely, whose affairs are guided by justice. |
Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. | 6Surely he will never be shaken; the righteous man will be remembered forever. |
They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them. | 7He does not fear bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. |
They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. | 8His heart is assured; he does not fear, until he looks in triumph on his foes. |
They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor. | 9He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be lifted high in honor. |
The wicked will see this and be infuriated. They will grind their teeth in anger; they will slink away, their hopes thwarted. | 10The wicked man will see and be grieved; he will gnash his teeth and waste away; the desires of the wicked will perish. |
