New King James Version | New Living Translation |
To the Chief Musician. Set to “Do Not Destroy.” A Michtam of David when he fled from Saul into the cave. Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by. | 1Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by. |
I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me. | 2I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me. |
He shall send from heaven and save me; He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. Selah God shall send forth His mercy and His truth. | 3He will send help from heaven to rescue me, disgracing those who hound me. Interlude My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness. |
My soul is among lions; I lie among the sons of men Who are set on fire, Whose teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword. | 4I am surrounded by fierce lions who greedily devour human prey— whose teeth pierce like spears and arrows, and whose tongues cut like swords. |
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth. | 5Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens! May your glory shine over all the earth. |
They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They have dug a pit before me; Into the midst of it they themselves have fallen. Selah | 6My enemies have set a trap for me. I am weary from distress. They have dug a deep pit in my path, but they themselves have fallen into it. Interlude |
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. | 7My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises! |
Awake, my glory! Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn. | 8Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. |
I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations. | 9I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. |
For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens, And Your truth unto the clouds. | 10For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. |
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth. | 11Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth. |
