New King James Version | New International Version |
Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. | 1Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand. |
So I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.” | 2I asked, "Where are you going?" He answered me, "To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is." |
And there was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him, | 3While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him |
who said to him, “Run, speak to this young man, saying: ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. | 4and said to him: "Run, tell that young man, 'Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. |
For I,’ says the LORD, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’ ” | 5And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,' declares the LORD, 'and I will be its glory within.' |
“Up, up! Flee from the land of the north,” says the LORD; “for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven,” says the LORD. | 6"Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north," declares the LORD, "for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven," declares the LORD. |
“Up, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.” | 7"Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!" |
For thus says the LORD of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. | 8For this is what the LORD Almighty says: "After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you--for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye-- |
For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me. | 9I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me. |
“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,” says the LORD. | 10"Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you," declares the LORD. |
“Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. | 11"Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you. |
And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. | 12The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem. |
Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!” | 13Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling." |
