A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! | 1By David. Praise the LORD, O my soul! With all that is within me, praise his holy name! |
Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: | 2Praise the LORD, O my soul! Do not forget all his kind deeds! |
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, | 3He is the one who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, |
Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, | 4who delivers your life from the Pit, who crowns you with his loyal love and compassion, |
Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. | 5who satisfies your life with good things, so your youth is renewed like an eagle's. |
The LORD executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed. | 6The LORD does what is fair, and executes justice for all the oppressed. |
He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. | 7The LORD revealed his faithful acts to Moses, his deeds to the Israelites. |
The LORD is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. | 8The LORD is compassionate and merciful; he is patient and demonstrates great loyal love. |
He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. | 9He does not always accuse, and does not stay angry. |
He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. | 10He does not deal with us as our sins deserve; he does not repay us as our misdeeds deserve. |
For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; | 11For as the skies are high above the earth, so his loyal love towers over his faithful followers. |
As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. | 12As far as the eastern horizon is from the west, so he removes the guilt of our rebellious actions from us. |
As a father pities his children, So the LORD pities those who fear Him. | 13As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on his faithful followers. |
For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. | 14For he knows what we are made of; he realizes we are made of clay. |
As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. | 15A person's life is like grass. Like a flower in the field it flourishes, |
For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, And its place remembers it no more. | 16but when the hot wind blows by, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew. |
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, | 17But the LORD continually shows loyal love to his faithful followers, and is faithful to their descendants, |
To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them. | 18to those who keep his covenant, who are careful to obey his commands. |
The LORD has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all. | 19The LORD has established his throne in heaven; his kingdom extends over everything. |
Bless the LORD, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. | 20Praise the LORD, you angels of his, you powerful warriors who carry out his decrees and obey his orders! |
Bless the LORD, all you His hosts, You ministers of His, who do His pleasure. | 21Praise the LORD, all you warriors of his, you servants of his who carry out his desires! |
Bless the LORD, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul! | 22Praise the LORD, all that he has made, in all the regions of his kingdom! Praise the LORD, O my soul! |
