| 2As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His people From this time forth and forever. | 2Just as mountains encircle Jerusalem, so the LORD encircles his people, from now to eternity. |
| 3For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest On the land allotted to the righteous, Lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity. | 3For evil's scepter will not rest on the land that has been allotted to the righteous, and so the righteous will not direct themselves to do wrong. |
