To the Chief Musician. On an instrument of Gath. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. How lovely is Your tabernacle, O LORD of hosts! | 1How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD of Armies. |
My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. | 2I long and yearn for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God. |
Even the sparrow has found a home, And the swallow a nest for herself, Where she may lay her young— Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts, My King and my God. | 3Even a sparrow finds a home, and a swallow, a nest for herself where she places her young--near your altars, LORD of Armies, my King and my God. |
Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You. Selah | 4How happy are those who reside in your house, who praise you continually. Selah |
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. | 5Happy are the people whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. |
As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools. | 6As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a source of springwater; even the autumn rain will cover it with blessings. |
They go from strength to strength; Each one appears before God in Zion. | 7They go from strength to strength; each appears before God in Zion. |
O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; Give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah | 8LORD God of Armies, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. Selah |
O God, behold our shield, And look upon the face of Your anointed. | 9Consider our shield, God; look on the face of your anointed one. |
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. | 10Better a day in your courts than a thousand anywhere else. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than live in the tents of wicked people. |
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. | 11For the LORD God is a sun and shield. The LORD grants favor and honor; he does not withhold the good from those who live with integrity. |
O LORD of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You! | 12Happy is the person who trusts in you, LORD of Armies! |
