New International Version | NET Bible |
Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. A song. He has founded his city on the holy mountain. | 1Written by the Korahites; a psalm, a song. The LORD's city is in the holy hills. |
The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob. | 2The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob. |
Glorious things are said of you, city of God: | 3People say wonderful things about you, O city of God. (Selah) |
"I will record Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge me-- Philistia too, and Tyre, along with Cush -- and will say, 'This one was born in Zion.'" | 4I mention Rahab and Babylon to my followers. Here are Philistia and Tyre, along with Ethiopia. It is said of them, "This one was born there." |
Indeed, of Zion it will be said, "This one and that one were born in her, and the Most High himself will establish her." | 5But it is said of Zion's residents, "Each one of these was born in her, and the sovereign One makes her secure." |
The LORD will write in the register of the peoples: "This one was born in Zion." | 6The LORD writes in the census book of the nations, "This one was born there." (Selah) |
As they make music they will sing, "All my fountains are in you." | 7As for the singers, as well as the pipers--all of them sing within your walls. |
