For the director of music. According to gittith. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty! | 1How lovely are your dwelling places, LORD of the Heavenly Armies. |
My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. | 2I desire and long for the Temple courts of the LORD. My heart and body sing for joy to the living God. |
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young-- a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God. | 3Even the sparrow found a house for herself and the swallow a nest to lay her young at your altar, LORD of the Heavenly Armies, my king and God. |
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. | 4How happy are those who live in your Temple, for they can praise you continuously. Interlude |
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. | 5How happy are those whose strength is in you, whose heart is on your path. |
As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. | 6They will pass through the Baca Valley where he will prepare a spring for them; even the early rain will cover it with blessings. |
They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. | 7They will walk from strength to strength; each will appear before God in Zion. |
Hear my prayer, LORD God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob. | 8LORD God of the Heavenly Armies, hear my prayer! Listen, God of Jacob! Interlude |
Look on our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one. | 9God, look at our shield, and show favor to your anointed, |
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. | 10for a day in your Temple courts is better than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather stand at the entrance of God's house than live in the tent of wickedness. |
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. | 11For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD grants grace and favor; the LORD will not withhold any good thing from those who walk blamelessly. |
LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you. | 12LORD of Heavenly Armies, how happy are those who trust in you. |
