New International Version | International Standard Version |
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, | 1How blessed is the person, who does not take the advice of the wicked, who does not stand on the path with sinners, and who does not sit in the seat of mockers. |
but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. | 2But he delights in the LORD's instruction, and meditates in his instruction day and night. |
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers. | 3He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in its season, and whose leaf does not wither. He will prosper in everything he does. |
Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. | 4But this is not the case with the wicked. They are like chaff that the wind blows away. |
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. | 5Therefore the wicked will not escape judgment, nor will sinners have a place in the assembly of the righteous. |
For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. | 6For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will be destroyed. |
