Of David. Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. | 1My soul, bless the LORD, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. |
Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits-- | 2My soul, bless the LORD, and do not forget all his benefits. |
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, | 3He forgives all your iniquity; he heals all your diseases. |
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, | 4He redeems your life from the Pit; he crowns you with faithful love and compassion. |
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. | 5He satisfies you with good things; your youth is renewed like the eagle. |
The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. | 6The LORD executes acts of righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. |
He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: | 7He revealed his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel. |
The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. | 8The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love. |
He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; | 9He will not always accuse us or be angry forever. |
he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. | 10He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve or repaid us according to our iniquities. |
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; | 11For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his faithful love toward those who fear him. |
as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. | 12As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. |
As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; | 13As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him. |
for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. | 14For he knows what we are made of, remembering that we are dust. |
The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; | 15As for man, his days are like grass--he blooms like a flower of the field; |
the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. | 16when the wind passes over it, it vanishes, and its place is no longer known. |
But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children-- | 17But from eternity to eternity the LORD's faithful love is toward those who fear him, and his righteousness toward the grandchildren |
with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. | 18of those who keep his covenant, who remember to observe his precepts. |
The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. | 19The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. |
Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. | 20Bless the LORD, all his angels of great strength, who do his word, obedient to his command. |
Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. | 21Bless the LORD, all his armies, his servants who do his will. |
Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, my soul. | 22Bless the LORD, all his works in all the places where he rules. My soul, bless the LORD! |
