NET Bible | New Living Translation |
How blessed is the one who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand in the pathway with sinners, or sit in the assembly of scoffers! | 1Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. |
Instead he finds pleasure in obeying the LORD's commands; he meditates on his commands day and night. | 2But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. |
He is like a tree planted by flowing streams; it yields its fruit at the proper time, and its leaves never fall off. He succeeds in everything he attempts. | 3They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. |
Not so with the wicked! Instead they are like wind-driven chaff. | 4But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind. |
For this reason the wicked cannot withstand judgment, nor can sinners join the assembly of the godly. | 5They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly. |
Certainly the LORD guards the way of the godly, but the way of the wicked ends in destruction. | 6For the LORD watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. |
