For this reason we do not fear when the earth shakes, and the mountains tumble into the depths of the sea, | 2Therefore we will not be frightened when the earth roars, when the mountains shake in the depths of the seas, |
when its waves crash and foam, and the mountains shake before the surging sea. (Selah) | 3when its waters roar and rage, when the mountains tremble despite their pride. Interlude |

God lives within it, it cannot be moved. God rescues it at the break of dawn. | 5Since God is in her midst, she will not be shaken. God will help her at the break of dawn. |
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms are overthrown. God gives a shout, the earth dissolves. | 6The nations roared; the kingdoms were shaken. His voice boomed; the earth melts. |

Come! Witness the exploits of the LORD, who brings devastation to the earth! | 8Come, observe the mighty works of the LORD, who causes desolation in the earth. |
He brings an end to wars throughout the earth; he shatters the bow and breaks the spear; he burns the shields with fire. | 9He causes wars to cease all over the earth, he causes the bow to break, the spear to snap, the chariots to ignite and burn. |
He says, "Stop your striving and recognize that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!" | 10Be in awe and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted throughout the earth. |
The LORD who commands armies is on our side! The God of Jacob is our protector! (Selah) | 11The LORD of the heavenly armies is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Interlude |
