New American Standard Bible 1995 | New Living Translation |
Vindicate me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation; O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man! | 1Declare me innocent, O God! Defend me against these ungodly people. Rescue me from these unjust liars. |
For You are the God of my strength; why have You rejected me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? | 2For you are God, my only safe haven. Why have you tossed me aside? Why must I wander around in grief, oppressed by my enemies? |
O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill And to Your dwelling places. | 3Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. |
Then I will go to the altar of God, To God my exceeding joy; And upon the lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God. | 4There I will go to the altar of God, to God—the source of all my joy. I will praise you with my harp, O God, my God! |
Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. | 5Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! |
