New American Standard Bible 1995 | New Living Translation |
Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD; Praise Him, O servants of the LORD, | 1Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD! Praise him, you who serve the LORD, |
You who stand in the house of the LORD, In the courts of the house of our God! | 2you who serve in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God. |
Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; Sing praises to His name, for it is lovely. | 3Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; celebrate his lovely name with music. |
For the LORD has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His own possession. | 4For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel for his own special treasure. |
For I know that the LORD is great And that our Lord is above all gods. | 5I know the greatness of the LORD— that our Lord is greater than any other god. |
Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps. | 6The LORD does whatever pleases him throughout all heaven and earth, and on the seas and in their depths. |
He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings forth the wind from His treasuries. | 7He causes the clouds to rise over the whole earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses. |
He smote the firstborn of Egypt, Both of man and beast. | 8He destroyed the firstborn in each Egyptian home, both people and animals. |
He sent signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, Upon Pharaoh and all his servants. | 9He performed miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt against Pharaoh and all his people. |
He smote many nations And slew mighty kings, | 10He struck down great nations and slaughtered mighty kings— |
Sihon, king of the Amorites, And Og, king of Bashan, And all the kingdoms of Canaan; | 11Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kings of Canaan. |
And He gave their land as a heritage, A heritage to Israel His people. | 12He gave their land as an inheritance, a special possession to his people Israel. |
Your name, O LORD, is everlasting, Your remembrance, O LORD, throughout all generations. | 13Your name, O LORD, endures forever; your fame, O LORD, is known to every generation. |
For the LORD will judge His people And will have compassion on His servants. | 14For the LORD will give justice to his people and have compassion on his servants. |
The idols of the nations are but silver and gold, The work of man's hands. | 15The idols of the nations are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. |
They have mouths, but they do not speak; They have eyes, but they do not see; | 16They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. |
They have ears, but they do not hear, Nor is there any breath at all in their mouths. | 17They have ears but cannot hear, and mouths but cannot breathe. |
Those who make them will be like them, Yes, everyone who trusts in them. | 18And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them. |
O house of Israel, bless the LORD; O house of Aaron, bless the LORD; | 19O Israel, praise the LORD! O priests—descendants of Aaron—praise the LORD! |
O house of Levi, bless the LORD; You who revere the LORD, bless the LORD. | 20O Levites, praise the LORD! All you who fear the LORD, praise the LORD! |
Blessed be the LORD from Zion, Who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! | 21The LORD be praised from Zion, for he lives here in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! |
