For the choir director; on the Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. How lovely are Your dwelling places, O LORD of hosts! | 1For the director of music. According to gittith. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty! |
My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. | 2My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. |
The bird also has found a house, And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts, My King and my God. | 3Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young-- a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God. |
How blessed are those who dwell in Your house! They are ever praising You. Selah. | 4Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. |
How blessed is the man whose strength is in You, In whose heart are the highways to Zion! | 5Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. |
Passing through the valley of Baca they make it a spring; The early rain also covers it with blessings. | 6As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. |
They go from strength to strength, Every one of them appears before God in Zion. | 7They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. |
O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; Give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah. | 8Hear my prayer, LORD God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob. |
Behold our shield, O God, And look upon the face of Your anointed. | 9Look on our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one. |
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness. | 10Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. |
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. | 11For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. |
O LORD of hosts, How blessed is the man who trusts in You! | 12LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you. |
